It strikes me as funny that JC says that they didn't take his name. That is a lot of Bull. My Aunt was the Jailer at the time of his arrest and my Uncle was the Chief Deputy Sheriff. They happened to reside at the apartment that was attached to the jail. When the Police rang the bell to drop off JC, my Uncle who answered the door knew exactly who he was. The story of JC kicking the door is entirely true. He kicked the door all night long causing my Aunt and Uncle to get no sleep at all. Also, there is no mention of the verbal abuse endured by them at the hands of JC or should I say at the mouth of. Mt Uncle told me he had never heard a man use that kind of language for that length of time in his entire life. It also was never told that my Aunt and Uncle received scores of hate mail because of JC's cute little song. Do you think Mr. Cash ever apologized for the foul language endured by my Aunt and Uncle. No, of course not. My Aunt and Uncle were JC fans before his arrest but not so much after. It bothered them both until the day they died that people thought Mr. Cash had been mistreated. Oktibbeha County is not in the habit of putting people in the " drunk tank" , for being sober. JC wasn't the only good man to be jailed in Starkville for having a problem. But he is the only man to cause a couple of really good people a lot of headaches just for locking the door behind him. I was then and still am a Johnny Cash Fan. But I'm Sorry, no apology no Pardon.

I was staying at the Rose Hall Resort and was walking on the golf course with my caddie. We came across Mr Cash.Johnny was watching his staff do some grounds keeping work on his property. It was quite funny he was speaking to them in some kind of Jamaican dialect, dressed in shorts, tropical style shirt, sandals and a straw hat. Another side to the "Man in Black" I got a secret glimpse for a brief moment as we exchanged hello's.

Thanks for publishing this cool photo! I am a HUGE Cash fan and was fortunate to have a front row seat for Rosanne's concert. Here is a video link I posted on YouTube of Rosanne singing the song at this very same 2'nd Annual Pardon JC Festival. During the video, note her referring to the lyric sheet in the above photo! :-) I met her about ten minutes before the concert in the hotel lobby; she was sitting at a table with a friend, and I believe she was actually writing the lyrics down as I came up to them!

If it were a songwriting competition, I'd be sure to enter. But it's a poster contest and I'm not so good at that. Oh well, as Johnny said in a song, covered here by me, Dr BLT:

Johnny Cash was a brilliant, conflicted man. His love of June was undeniable. A great new documentary revealing Cash's influence on 20th century America just premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival.

It's hitting the Bio Channel on October 23rd at 9 PM ET. Insights from Bob Dylan, Al Gore, and many others. Looks really good, and I'm always down for learning more about the Man in Black.

I THINK IT IS GREAT THAT THE GREAT LEGENDARY MAN IN BLACK IS HAVING THIS HONOR. WISH HE WAS HEAR TO KNOW. I AM A FAMILY MEMBER OF MARTY STUART AND KNOW JOHNNY CASH WAS A CLOSE FRIEND AND THAT HE MISSES HIM EACH DAY. JOHNNY IS A LEGEND THAT WILL LIVE ON FOREVER. THERE AGAIN THIS HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING, BUT I AM PROUD FOR THIS EVENT. I KNOW IT WAS A GREAT HONOR TO KNOW AND WORK WITH JOHNNY.

His music has received a lot of radio airplay in Europe and Australia.
I look forward to hearing from you.
